BALLS!!!

I went to leave for work today and one of my front tires is flat.... I go to get my spare and this is what I find:

Lovely.

Yep, my spare is frozen into my trunk. I love winter. Unfortunately (or fortunately depends on which way you see it) I had to go into my office today but that's not happening now. I have to wait until one of my friends is awake and see if they can drive me to a tire shop so I can replace the tire at home. I live in a newer area and there isn't a bus stop near me or else I would just take the bus. Actual knitting content soon, I promise... Also let me know if you are actually reading this, that would be super. Thanks.

Alright here goes nothing....

Well, I had a blog a year ago or so and I neglected it. I thought I would give it another go.

For starters, my name is Christie. I'm 25 and right now I work as a graphic designer. I began knitting in January of 2006, but I've always been crafty. I hope to make this blog center around knitting but there may be other stuff thrown in occasionally. I'm considering opening a yarn shop and am taking business classes to try to figure if that's something I really want to do. I also am attempting to teach myself to sew but so far that has been a complete disaster.

Why the name Assassin Knit, you ask?

Well, a couple months ago I briefly played the game "Assassin's Creed" and during the load screens I would sneak in a few stitches on my project. My boyfriend saw and teased me a bit and asked me what I was doing. And I replied "Assassin Knitting" and it just sort of stuck after that. Voila.

I decided to start up a new blog while I was on vacation in Scottsdale, AZ earlier this month. My boyfriend's parents have a vacation home there and we went down with them for the Superbowl. While I was there I was able to visit two yarn shops . I wasn't sure if we were going to have any down time to go off on our own while we were down there, so I didn't get my yarn shopping hopes up too high. I did bring my Garmin nav system just in case :o)

We ended up having a day to ourselves so I did a search on my nav for yarn shops and I programed in Tempe Yarn and Fiber and Jessica Knits.

We went to Tempe first because it was the farthest away. It was a nice shop. The employees were all very nice and personable. They did not have a very large selection, but I found quite a few things that needed to come home with me.

I really really wanted to make the Phairo Scarf from Knitscene and I wanted the exact yarn and colorway (SWTC Oasis in Chocolate) . I brought the needles and pattern with me to Arizona just in case I came across the yarn while I was there. Tempe had it I was sooo excited. I also picked up a few skeins of Malabrigo and an Austermann yarn that I can't remember the name of. Actually my boyfriend picked out the Austermann because "it had all his colors in it". Haha! It's a varigated yarn with greens and browns, he wants a hat made out of it.

We headed to Jessica Knits and had the nav as our guide. We drove for 20 minutes to our "destination". The trusty nav system led us to a deserted intersection on the outskirts of Scottsdale. I called the store and listened to there automated message and programed in the new address. We drove and drove to another deserted intersection........ The street name for the store is McDowell Mountain Ranch Road (kinda sounds like a sandwich), the nav had it as McDowell Road and I when I put in the address from store message I entered McDowell Mountain Road. Geez. Well on the third attempt we got it right and after a combined drive time of an hour to get there we arrived. The most hilarious part of this address fiasco is that the shop is a 5-10 minute drive from the house.

I love Jessica Knits. I especially like how they display their books. They were on easels on top of the wooden cubes used to display the yarn. I ended up buying 5 balls of Loop-d-Loop Moss, Teva Durham's pattern booklet for her yarn line, a pair of Lantern Moon needles, and a few other things.

What yarn diet?

We had a great time in Arizona as always. We left this:

I took this picture really quickly right before we left for the airport. And below is really cute shower in the room we were staying in.

We came home to this:
Whew, long first post!
